Mercury Ghost Town

Mercury Mining Town

I had known there was at least two standing Ghost Towns in the bay area, and the Mecury Mining Town was the other after Drawbridge, CA. We decided to make this our next trip. This town once served as the homes and offices of a Mercury mining operating in the Bay Area, of which the San Jose Mecury New’s get’s it’s name.

Upon arrival we started going in all the buildings as we explored. After we had been in a good handful of buildings, we noticed a sign that warned us to stay out of the buildings. This wasn’t you’re typical no-trespassing sign. It said rats carrying the Haunta Virus may be nesting in the abandoned structures, and furthermore the illness is airborn in places that contain rat feces and still air. We didn’t go in any more buildings after reading that. In the end we were alright, but we did suffer a case of hypochondria. Weeks after this adventure we were tense after every cough and every sneeze, especially since Haunta has a high mortality rate.

We survived, but I’m not eager to go back!
