Freespace is/was an experimental community project in San Francisco. The idea was to rent a previously industrial / commercial building in SF and turn it into "free space" for the community to come and relax, create, study, cook, or generally hang out. Artist endeavors were encouraged. Their parking lot features wall-to-wall commissioned graffiti from many legendary bay area writers, such as GATS, Plantrees, Apex, and more. After signing a waiver, we got to take a look around inside.
