When I helped Girafa make a perfect 3D model for his keychain project, I was excited to have the model and kept finding other cool uses for it. I previously wrote about the paper craft mask I made with it, but I also wanted to see if I could animate it.

I decided it would be fun to recreate the iconic Pixar intro animation but with the Girafa letters and character.

I was able to get the letters perfect because the Pixar font is available online, and Blender lets you make 3D objects directly from text / fonts.

I rigged the 3d model & imported the original Pixar animation as a background layer in Blender. I carefully tweened & animated the model over the source material and it came out perfect. I used some noise reduction software on the Pixar audio to try to remove the metallic noises (originally it was a lamp doing the movement...). The audio removal came out ok. There's still some metallic sounds but it's better than before.

Overall it was a pretty quick project but it came out excellent - Girafa also posted about it on his Insta: https://www.instagram.com/p/COYLOLZDokE/?hl=en
